anointing oil

¹⁴Is anyone ill among you? Let him bring in the priests of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

¹³And they cast out many demons, and they anointed many of the sick with oil and healed them.

⁹And, having taken up the oil of unction, you shall anoint the tabernacle along with its articles, so that they may be sanctified.

³¹Likewise, you shall say to the sons of Israel: ‘This oil of unction will be holy to me throughout your generations. ³²The flesh of man shall not be anointed from it, and you shall not make any similar compound, for it has been sanctified and it shall be holy to you. ³³Whatever man will have composed such a thing and have given it to a stranger, he shall be exterminated from his people.’ ”

²⁷But as for you, let the Anointing that you have received from him abide in you. And so, you have no need of anyone to teach you. For his Anointing teaches you about everything, and it is the truth, and it is not a lie. And just as his Anointing has taught you, abide in him.

⁹You have loved justice, and you have hated iniquity. Because of this, God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of exultation, above your companions.”

¹⁷But as for you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,

³⁸Jesus of Nazareth, whom God anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power, traveled around doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil. For God was with him.

²²And the Lord spoke to Moses, ²³saying: “Take for yourself aromatics: of the first and best myrrh, five hundred shekels, and of cinnamon half as much, that is, two hundred and fifty shekels; of sweet flag similarly two hundred and fifty, ²⁴but of cassia, five hundred shekels by the weight of the sanctuary, and of the oil of olives the measure of a hin. ²⁵And you shall make the holy oil of unction, an ointment composed with the skills of a perfumer,

¹A Psalm of David. The Lord directs me, and nothing will be lacking to me. ²He has settled me here, in a place of pasture. He has led me out to the water of refreshment. ³He has converted my soul. He has led me away on the paths of justice, for the sake of his name. ⁴For, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they have given me consolation. ⁵You have prepared a table in my sight, opposite those who trouble me. You have anointed my head with oil, and my cup, which inebriates me, how brilliant it is! ⁶And your mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and so may I dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days.

¹Then Samuel took a little vial of oil, and poured it on his head. And he kissed him, and said: “Behold, the Lord has anointed you as first ruler over his inheritance. And you shall free his people from the hands of their enemies, who are all around them. And this shall be a sign for you that God has anointed you as ruler:

⁷And you shall pour the oil of unction over his head. And so, by this rite, he shall be consecrated.

¹⁸“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because of this, he has anointed me. He has sent me to evangelize the poor, to heal the contrite of heart,

⁴⁶You did not anoint my head with oil. But she has anointed my feet with ointment.

¹⁸Therefore, Jacob, arising in the morning, took the stone which he had placed under his head, and he set it up as monument, pouring oil over it.

²⁰Yet you have the anointing of the Holy One, and you know everything.
