Our Bar for the Library
Six things we check on every video before it goes in. None of these are about polish or production — they're about whether the video can do its job for the broadest possible audience.
-
Welcomes outsiders
Picture a friend who has never opened a Bible. The video should still pull them in — no insider jargon, no assumed church background, no jokes that only land if you grew up in the pews.
-
Stands on its own
Anyone should be able to follow it cold. Avoid clips that lean on knowing the speaker, the conference, or what came before. The message has to make sense without the back-story.
-
Crosses cultures
Aim at the universal Church — not a specific country, denominational quirk, or political moment. Cultural in-references shouldn't be the gate someone has to walk through to hear the gospel.
-
Faithful to Scripture
Rooted in Scripture and the traditions handed down by the apostles. We steer clear of prosperity gospel, fringe theology, or anything that distorts who Jesus is.
-
Points to Jesus
The thrust should be helping someone meet, follow, or grow with Jesus — not promote a brand, a personality, or a ministry. If Jesus could be swapped out for the speaker without losing the point, it isn't for us.
-
Builds bridges, not walls
Steers clear of takedowns and tribal fights between Christian traditions. We're inviting people toward Jesus — not picking sides in a denominational argument or scoring points against other believers.
Not sure? Send it anyway.
If you're on the fence, lean toward submitting. We'd rather sift through a few that don't quite fit than miss something that would help someone encounter Jesus. A short note about why the video moved you helps us a lot.
