3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation. 4He consoles us in all our tribulation, so that we too may be able to console those who are in any kind of distress, through the exhortation by which we also are being exhorted by God.

4For, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they have given me consolation.

28Come to me, all you who labor and have been burdened, and I will refresh you. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is sweet and my burden is light.”

10Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not turn away, for I am your God. I have strengthened you, and I have assisted you, and the right hand of my just one has upheld you.

1The Praise of a Canticle, of David. Whoever dwells with the assistance of the Most High will abide in the protection of the God of heaven. 2He will say to the Lord, “You are my supporter and my refuge.” My God, I will hope in him. 3For he has freed me from the snare of those who go hunting, and from the harsh word. 4He will overshadow you with his shoulders, and you will hope under his wings. 5His truth will surround you with a shield. You will not be afraid: before the terror of the night, 6before the arrow flying in the day, before the troubles that wander in the darkness, nor of invasion and the midday demon.

For we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself asks on our behalf with ineffable sighing. 27And he who examines hearts knows what the Spirit seeks, because he asks on behalf of the saints in accordance with God. 28And we know that, for those who love God, all things work together unto good, for those who, in accordance with his purpose, are called to be saints.

22Therefore, you also, indeed, have sorrow now. But I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice. And no one will take away your joy from you.

12It is I, I myself, who will console you. Who are you that you would be afraid of a mortal man, and of a son of man, who will wither like the grass?

13Give praise, O heavens! And exult, O earth! Let the mountains give praise with jubilation! For the Lord has consoled his people, and he will take pity on his poor ones.

1Then, seeing the crowds, he ascended the mountain, and when he had sat down, his disciples drew near to him, 2and opening his mouth, he taught them, saying: 3“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4Blessed are the meek, for they shall possess the earth. 5Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be consoled. 6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they shall be satisfied.
