⁷He who has acted arrogantly will not dwell in the midst of my house. He who has spoken iniquity was not guided with the sight of my eyes.

¹⁶Six things there are that the Lord hates, and the seventh, his soul detests: ¹⁷haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, ¹⁸a heart that devises the most wicked thoughts, feet running swiftly unto evil, ¹⁹a deceitful witness bringing forth lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.

¹⁷The bread of lies is sweet to a man. But afterwards, his mouth will be filled with pebbles.

²⁴An enemy is known by his lips, though it is from his heart that he draws out deceit. ²⁵When he will have lowered his voice, do not believe him, for there are seven vices in his heart. ²⁶Whoever covers hatred with deceit, his malice shall be revealed in the assembly.

²O Lord, free my soul from lips of iniquity and from the deceitful tongue.

¹⁸For ones such as these do not serve Christ our Lord, but their inner selves, and, through pleasing words and skillful speaking, they seduce the hearts of the innocent.

⁹The heart is depraved above all things, and it is unsearchable, who can know it?

⁴The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit. He is unwilling to understand, so that he may act well.

⁸See to it that no one deceives you through philosophy and empty falsehoods, as found in the traditions of men, in accord with the influences of the world, and not in accord with Christ.

⁹A false witness shall not go unpunished. And whoever speaks lies will perish.

²For you are God, my strength. Why have you rejected me? And why do I walk in sadness, while the adversary afflicts me?

¹⁰For whoever wants to love life and to see good days should restrain his tongue from evil, and his lips, so that they utter no deceit.
