But when he had cast out the demon, the mute man spoke, and so the crowds were amazed. 15But some of them said, “It is by Beelzebub, the leader of demons, that he casts out demons.” 16And others, testing him, required a sign from heaven of him. 17But when he perceived their thoughts, he said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself will become desolate, and house will fall upon house. 18So then, if Satan is also divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that it is by Beelzebub that I cast out demons. 19But if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your own sons cast them out? Therefore, they shall be your judges.

1The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me. He has sent me to bring good news to the meek, so as to heal the contrite of heart, to preach leniency to captives and release to the confined, 2and so to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vindication of our God: to console all who are mourning, 3to take up the mourners of Zion and to give them a crown in place of ashes, an oil of joy in place of mourning, a cloak of praise in place of a spirit of grief. And the sons of sojourners will be your farmers and the workers of your vineyards. 6But you yourselves will be called the priests of the Lord. It will be said to you, “You are the ministers of our God.” You will eat from the strength of the Gentiles, and you will pride yourself on their glory.
