11For I know the thoughts that I think over you, says the Lord: thoughts of peace and not of affliction, so that I may give you patience and an end.

5“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. And before you went forth from the womb, I sanctified you. And I made you a prophet to the nations.”

10Whoever shall be in the future, his name has already been called. And it is known that he is a man and that he is not able to contend in judgment against one who is stronger than himself.

32But concerning that day or hour, no one knows, neither the Angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33Take heed, be vigilant, and pray. For you do not know when the time may be. 34It is like a man who, setting out on a sojourn, left behind his house, and gave his servants authority over every work, and instructed the doorkeeper to stand watch. 35Therefore, be vigilant, for you do not know when the lord of the house may arrive: in the evening, or in the middle of the night, or at first light, or in the morning. 36Otherwise, when he will have arrived unexpectedly, he may find you sleeping. 37But what I say to you, I say to all: Be vigilant.”

11In him, we too are called to our portion, having been predestined in accord with the plan of the One who accomplishes all things by the counsel of his will.

4just as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy and immaculate in his sight, in charity. 5He has predestined us to adoption as sons, through Jesus Christ, in himself, according to the purpose of his will,

28And we know that, for those who love God, all things work together unto good, for those who, in accordance with his purpose, are called to be saints.

29For those whom he foreknew, he also predestined, in conformity with the image of his Son, so that he might be the Firstborn among many brothers.

4For, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they have given me consolation. 5You have prepared a table in my sight, opposite those who trouble me. You have anointed my head with oil, and my cup, which inebriates me, how brilliant it is! 6And your mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and so may I dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days.

19Now he said this to signify by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.” 20Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, the one who also had leaned on his chest at supper and said, “Lord, who is it who shall betray you?” 21Therefore, when Peter had seen him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, but what about this one?” 22Jesus said to him: “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you? You follow me.”

8See to it that no one deceives you through philosophy and empty falsehoods, as found in the traditions of men, in accord with the influences of the world, and not in accord with Christ.
