¹⁹And he said to them: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

¹⁷And Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

¹⁰Now the same was true of James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were associates of Simon. And Jesus said to Simon: “Do not be afraid. From now on, you will be catching men.”

¹⁸And Jesus, walking near the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen).

They have abandoned the Lord. They have blasphemed the Holy One of Israel. They been taken away backwards. ⁵For what reason shall I continue to strike you, as you increase transgressions? The entire head is feeble, and the entire heart is grieving. ⁶From the sole of the foot, even to the top of the head, there is no soundness within. Wounds and bruises and swelling sores: these are not bandaged, nor treated with medicine, nor soothed with oil.

¹⁸And Jesus, walking near the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen). ¹⁹And he said to them: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” ²⁰And at once, leaving behind their nets, they followed him. ²¹And continuing on from there, he saw another two brothers, James of Zebedee, and his brother John, in a ship with their father Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them. ²²And immediately, leaving their nets and their father behind, they followed him.

⁵For there is one God, and one mediator of God and of men, the man Christ Jesus,

¹Now it happened that, when the crowds pressed toward him, so that they might hear the word of God, he was standing beside the lake of Genesaret. ²And he saw two boats standing beside the lake. But the fishermen had climbed down, and they were washing their nets. ³And so, climbing into one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, he asked him to draw back a little from the land. And sitting down, he taught the crowds from the boat. ⁴Then, when he had ceased speaking, he said to Simon, “Lead us into deep water, and release your nets for a catch.” ⁵And in response, Simon said to him: “Teacher, working throughout the night, we caught nothing. But on your word, I will release the net.” ⁶And when they had done this, they enclosed such a copious multitude of fish that their net was rupturing.

¹After this, Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. And he manifested himself in this way. ²These were together: Simon Peter and Thomas, who is called the Twin, and Nathanael, who was from Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples. ³Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “And we are going with you.” And they went and climbed into the ship. And in that night, they caught nothing. ⁴But when morning arrived, Jesus stood on the shore. Yet the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. ⁵Then Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any food?” They answered him, “No.” ⁶He said to them, “Cast the net to the right side of the ship, and you will find some.” Therefore, they cast it out, and then they were not able to draw it in, because of the multitude of fish.
