⁵“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. And before you went forth from the womb, I sanctified you. And I made you a prophet to the nations.”

⁴⁴No one is able to come to me, unless the Father, who has sent me, has drawn him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

¹⁰Because of this, brothers, be all the more diligent, so that by good works you may make certain your calling and election. For in doing these things, you do not sin at any time. ¹¹For in this way, you shall be provided abundantly with an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

⁹who has freed us and has called us to his holy vocation, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus, before the ages of time.

¹And so, I beg you, brothers, by the mercy of God, that you offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, with the subservience of your mind. ²And do not choose to be conformed to this age, but instead choose to be reformed in the newness of your mind, so that you may demonstrate what is the will of God: what is good, and what is well-pleasing, and what is perfect. ³For I say, through the grace that has been given to me, to all who are among you: Taste no more than it is necessary to taste, but taste unto sobriety and just as God has distributed a share of the faith to each one. ⁴For just as, within one body, we have many parts, though all the parts do not have the same role, ⁵so also we, being many, are one body in Christ, and each one is a part, the one of the other. ⁶And we each have different gifts, according to the grace that has been given to us: whether prophecy, in agreement with the reasonableness of faith;

¹⁴For many are called, but few are chosen.’ ”

¹⁵And he said to them: “Go forth to the whole world and preach the Gospel to every creature.

¹Then calling together the twelve Apostles, he gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases. ²And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the infirm.

³⁸Yet truly, Peter said to them: “Do penance; and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins. And you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹For the Promise is for you and for your sons, and for all who are far away: for whomever the Lord our God will have called.”

¹⁷However, let each one walk just as the Lord has distributed to him, each one just as God has called him. And thus do I teach in all the churches.

⁹But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, an acquired people, so that you may announce the virtues of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

²⁰Then they, setting out, preached everywhere, with the Lord cooperating and confirming the word by the accompanying signs.

²⁴For I called, and you refused. I extended my hand, and there was no one who watched. ²⁵You have despised all my counsels, and you have neglected my rebukes. ²⁶Similarly, I will ridicule you at your demise, and I will mock you, when that which you feared shall overcome you.

⁵My most beloved brothers, listen. Has not God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that God has promised to those who love him?

²⁸And we know that, for those who love God, all things work together unto good, for those who, in accordance with his purpose, are called to be saints.

³³Therefore, seek first the kingdom of God and his justice, and all these things shall be added to you as well.
