having faith

²⁷He said to them, “Things that are impossible with men are possible with God.”

¹A Psalm of David. The Lord directs me, and nothing will be lacking to me. ²He has settled me here, in a place of pasture. He has led me out to the water of refreshment. ³He has converted my soul. He has led me away on the paths of justice, for the sake of his name. ⁴For, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they have given me consolation. ⁵You have prepared a table in my sight, opposite those who trouble me. You have anointed my head with oil, and my cup, which inebriates me, how brilliant it is! ⁶And your mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and so may I dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days.

¹³Temptation should not take hold of you, except what is human. For God is faithful, and he will not permit you to be tempted beyond your ability. Instead, he will effect his Providence, even during temptation, so that you may be able to bear it.

¹⁷Therefore, faith is from hearing, and hearing is through the Word of Christ.

⁵⁰This is the bread which descends from heaven, so that if anyone will eat from it, he may not die. ⁵¹I am the living bread, who descended from heaven. ⁵²If anyone eats from this bread, he shall live in eternity. And the bread that I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world.” ⁵³Therefore, the Jews debated among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” ⁵⁴And so, Jesus said to them: “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you will not have life in you. ⁵⁵Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

²¹And Jesus responded to them by saying: “Amen I say to you, if you have faith and do not hesitate, not only shall you do this, concerning the fig tree, but even if you would say to this mountain, ‘Take and cast yourself into the sea,’ it shall be done.

¹²Or else, believe because of these same works. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me shall also do the works that I do. And greater things than these shall he do, for I go to the Father.

¹⁵Therefore, through him, let us offer the sacrifice of continual praise to God, which is the fruit of lips confessing his name.

⁹Everyone who withdraws and does not remain in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God. Whoever remains in the doctrine, such a one as this has both the Father and the Son.

¹The vision of Isaiah, the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Joatham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. ²Listen, O heavens, and pay attention, O earth, for the Lord has spoken. I have nurtured and raised children, but they have spurned me. ³An ox knows his owner, and a donkey knows the manger of his lord, but Israel has not known me, and my people have not understood. ⁴Woe to a sinful nation, a people burdened by iniquity, a wicked offspring, accursed children. They have abandoned the Lord. They have blasphemed the Holy One of Israel. They been taken away backwards. ⁵For what reason shall I continue to strike you, as you increase transgressions? The entire head is feeble, and the entire heart is grieving. ⁶From the sole of the foot, even to the top of the head, there is no soundness within. Wounds and bruises and swelling sores: these are not bandaged, nor treated with medicine, nor soothed with oil.

²²And for this reason, it was reputed to him unto justice.

⁵⁵Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. ⁵⁶For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. ⁵⁷Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. ⁵⁸Just as the living Father has sent me and I live because of the Father, so also whoever eats me, the same shall live because of me. ⁵⁹This is the bread that descends from heaven. It is not like the manna that your fathers ate, for they died. Whoever eats this bread shall live forever.”

²³But the hour is coming, and it is now, when true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father also seeks such persons who may worship him. ²⁴God is Spirit. And so, those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

⁶⁷After this, many of his disciples went back, and they no longer walked with him. ⁶⁸Therefore, Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” ⁶⁹Then Simon Peter answered him: “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. ⁷⁰And we have believed, and we recognize that you are the Christ, the Son of God.” ⁷¹Jesus answered them: “Have I not chosen you twelve? And yet one among you is a devil.”

⁴For through baptism we have been buried with him into death, so that, in the manner that Christ rose from the dead, by the glory of the Father, so may we also walk in the newness of life.

¹⁸Flee from fornication. Every sin whatsoever that a man commits is outside of the body, but whoever fornicates, sins against his own body.
