living in fear

⁷For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of virtue, and of love, and of self-restraint.

⁹Behold, I am instructing you. Be strengthened, and be steadfast. Do not dread, and do not fear. For the Lord your God is with you in all things, wherever you may go.”

⁶So then, we may confidently say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not fear what man can do to me.”

¹⁸Fear is not in love. Instead, perfect love casts out fear, for fear pertains to punishment. And whoever fears is not perfected in love.

⁴For, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they have given me consolation.

⁸And the Lord, who is your commander, will himself be with you. He will neither renounce nor abandon you. Do not be afraid, and do not dread.”

¹A Psalm of David, before he was sealed. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?

²⁷Peace I leave for you; my Peace I give to you. Not in the way that the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, and let it not fear.

¹⁰Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not turn away, for I am your God. I have strengthened you, and I have assisted you, and the right hand of my just one has upheld you.

¹Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who are not walking according to the flesh. ²For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed me from the law of sin and death. ³For though this was impossible under the law, because it was weakened by the flesh, God sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and because of sin, in order to condemn sin in the flesh, ⁴so that the justification of the law might be fulfilled in us. For we are not walking according to the flesh, but according to the spirit. ⁵For those who are in agreement with the flesh are mindful of the things of the flesh. But those who are in agreement with the spirit are mindful of the things of the spirit. ⁶For the prudence of the flesh is death. But the prudence of the spirit is life and peace.

¹⁵And you have not received, again, a spirit of servitude in fear, but you have received the Spirit of the adoption of sons, in whom we cry out: “Abba, Father!”

⁵I sought the Lord, and he heeded me, and he carried me away from all my tribulations.

¹A Psalm of David. The Lord directs me, and nothing will be lacking to me. ²He has settled me here, in a place of pasture. He has led me out to the water of refreshment. ³He has converted my soul. He has led me away on the paths of justice, for the sake of his name. ⁴For, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they have given me consolation. ⁵You have prepared a table in my sight, opposite those who trouble me. You have anointed my head with oil, and my cup, which inebriates me, how brilliant it is! ⁶And your mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and so may I dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days.

¹⁴Wait for the Lord, act manfully; and let your heart be strengthened, and remain with the Lord.

³¹Therefore, do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.

¹⁷And I will free you in that day, says the Lord. And you will not be delivered into the hands of the men whom you dread. ¹⁸But when delivering, I will free you. And you will not fall by the sword. Instead, your life will be saved for you, because you had faith in me, says the Lord.”

²²But the fruit of the Spirit is charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, forbearance, ²³meekness, faith, modesty, abstinence, chastity. There is no law against such things.

¹And now thus says the Lord who created you, O Jacob, and who formed you, O Israel: Do not be afraid. For I have redeemed you, and I have called you by your name. You are mine. ²When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not cover you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned, and the flames will not scorch you.

²⁷The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, so as to turn aside from the ruin of death.

⁷But even the very hairs of your head have all been numbered. Therefore, do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.

²Our God is our refuge and strength, a helper in the tribulations that have greatly overwhelmed us. ³Because of this, we will not be afraid when the earth will be turbulent and the mountains will be transferred into the heart of the sea. ⁴They thundered, and the waters were stirred up among them; the mountains have been disturbed by his strength. ⁵The frenzy of the river rejoices the city of God. The Most High has sanctified his tabernacle. ⁶God is in its midst; it will not be shaken. God will assist it in the early morning. ⁷The peoples have been disturbed, and the kingdoms have been bowed down. He uttered his voice: the earth has been moved.
