⁶The proverb is: A youth is close to his way; even when he is old, he will not withdraw from it.

⁴And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but educate them with the discipline and correction of the Lord.

²¹Fathers, do not provoke your children to indignation, lest they lose heart.

¹⁷Teach your son, and he will refresh you, and he will give delight to your soul.

¹⁶For God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that all who believe in him may not perish, but may have eternal life. ¹⁷For God did not send his Son into the world, in order to judge the world, but in order that the world may be saved through him.

¹Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is just.

¹²Honor your father and your mother, so that you may have a long life upon the land, which the Lord your God will give to you.

¹⁵The rod and its correction distribute wisdom. But the child who is left to his own will, brings shame to his mother.

²⁴He who spares the rod hates his son. But he who loves him urgently instructs him.

¹⁴Behold, this is the third time I have prepared to come to you, and yet I will not be a burden to you. For I am seeking not the things that are yours, but you yourselves. And neither should the children store up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

³Behold, the inheritance of the Lord is sons, the reward is the fruit of the womb.

⁴But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let her first learn to manage her own household, and to fulfill, in turn, her own obligation to her parents; for this is acceptable before God.

²⁰Children, obey your parents in all things. For this is well-pleasing to the Lord.

Should we not obey the Father of spirits all the more, and so live? ¹⁰And indeed, for a few days and according to their own wishes, they instructed us. But he does so to our benefit, so that we may receive his sanctification. ¹¹Now every discipline, in the present time, does not seem a gladness, of course, but a grief. But afterwards, it will repay a most peaceful fruit of justice to those who become trained in it.

⁶And these words, which I instruct to you this day, shall be in your heart. ⁷And you shall explain them to your sons. And you shall meditate upon them sitting in your house, and walking on a journey, when lying down and when rising up. ⁸And you shall bind them like a sign on your hand, and they shall be placed and shall move between your eyes. ⁹And you shall write them at the threshold and on the doors of your house.

²²HETH. By the mercies of the Lord, we are not consumed. For his compassion has not passed away. ²³HETH. I know it at first light; great is your faithfulness.

⁶Be anxious about nothing. But in all things, with prayer and supplication, with acts of thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God. ⁷And so shall the peace of God, which exceeds all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

⁸But if anyone has no concern for his own, and especially for those of his own household, he has denied the faith, and he is worse than an unbeliever.

³Behold, the inheritance of the Lord is sons, the reward is the fruit of the womb. ⁴Like arrows in the hand of the powerful, so are the sons of those who have been cast out. ⁵Blessed is the man who has filled his desire from these things. He will not be confounded when he speaks to his enemies at the gate.
