walking with jesus

²¹For you have been called to this because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, so that you would follow in his footsteps.

⁶Therefore, just as you have received the Lord Jesus Christ, walk in him.

¹⁰Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not turn away, for I am your God. I have strengthened you, and I have assisted you, and the right hand of my just one has upheld you.

²⁷My sheep hear my voice. And I know them, and they follow me.

²⁸Come to me, all you who labor and have been burdened, and I will refresh you. ²⁹Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. ³⁰For my yoke is sweet and my burden is light.”

¹A Psalm of David. The Lord directs me, and nothing will be lacking to me. ²He has settled me here, in a place of pasture. He has led me out to the water of refreshment. ³He has converted my soul. He has led me away on the paths of justice, for the sake of his name. ⁴For, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they have given me consolation. ⁵You have prepared a table in my sight, opposite those who trouble me. You have anointed my head with oil, and my cup, which inebriates me, how brilliant it is! ⁶And your mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and so may I dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days.

¹Blessed is the man who has not followed the counsel of the impious, and has not remained in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the chair of pestilence.

⁶Whoever declares himself to remain in him, ought to walk just as he himself walked.

⁸I will reveal to you, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requires from you, and how to act with judgment, and to love mercy, and to walk carefully with your God.

³And we can be sure that we have known him by this: if we observe his commandments. ⁴Whoever claims that he knows him, and yet does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. ⁵But whoever keeps his word, truly in him the charity of God is perfected. And by this we know that we are in him. ⁶Whoever declares himself to remain in him, ought to walk just as he himself walked.

⁷If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, then you may ask for whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.

³⁴I give you a new commandment: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, so also must you love one another. ³⁵By this, all shall recognize that you are my disciples: if you will have love for one another.”

¹Therefore, having been justified by faith, let us be at peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁷He arrived as a witness to offer testimony about the Light, so that all would believe through him.

¹²Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me does not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

⁷For we walk by means of faith, and not by sight.

¹³And behold, two of them went out, on the same day, to a town named Emmaus, which was the distance of sixty stadia from Jerusalem. ¹⁴And they spoke to one another about all of these things that had occurred. ¹⁵And it happened that, while they were speculating and questioning within themselves, Jesus himself, drawing near, traveled with them. ¹⁶But their eyes were restrained, so that they would not recognize him. ¹⁷And he said to them, “What are these words, which you are discussing with one another, as you walk and are sad?” ¹⁸And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, responded by saying to him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”

¹⁰For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works which God has prepared and in which we should walk.

²⁴Amen, amen, I say to you, that whoever hears my word, and believes in him who sent me, has eternal life, and he does not go into judgment, but instead he crosses from death into life. ²⁵Amen, amen, I say to you, that the hour is coming, and it is now, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear it shall live.

¹The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him, in order to make known to his servants the things that must soon occur, and which he signified by sending his Angel to his servant John;
