9It is better to see what you desire, than to desire what you cannot know. But this, too, is emptiness and a presumption of spirit.

18For many persons, about whom I have often told you (and now tell you, weeping,) are walking as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19Their end is destruction; their god is their belly; and their glory is in their shame: for they are immersed in earthly things. 20But our way of life is in heaven. 29And God said: “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant upon the earth, and all the trees that have in themselves the ability to sow their own kind, to be food for you,

15The beloved grew fat, and he kicked. Having grown fat and thick and wide, he abandoned God, his Maker, and he withdrew from God, his Savior.

Approach, buy wine and milk, without money and without barter. 2Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and expend your labor for what does not satisfy? And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, by the faithful mercies of David.

34The Son of man came, eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a voracious man and a drinker of wine, a friend of tax collectors and of sinners.’

1“Be sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make yourselves bald, because of the dead. 2For you are a holy people, for the Lord your God. And he chose you, so that you may be a people particularly his, out of all the nations on earth. 3You shall not eat the things that are unclean. 4These are the animals which you ought to eat: the ox, and the sheep, and the goat, 5the stag and the roe deer, the gazelle, the wild goat, the addax, the antelope, the giraffe. 6Every beast which has a hoof divided into two parts and which also chews the cud, you shall eat.
