being free

⁵In my tribulation, I called upon the Lord. And the Lord heeded me with generosity.

¹³For you, brothers, have been called to liberty. Only you must not make liberty into an occasion for the flesh, but instead, serve one another through the charity of the Spirit.

³¹Therefore, Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him: “If you will abide in my word, you will truly be my disciples. ³²And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” ³³They answered him: “We are the offspring of Abraham, and we have never been a slave to anyone. How can you say, ‘You shall be set free?’ ” ³⁴Jesus answered them: “Amen, amen, I say to you, that everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. ³⁵Now the slave does not abide in the house for eternity. Yet the Son does abide in eternity. ³⁶Therefore, if the Son has set you free, then you will truly be free.

¹⁸And having been freed from sin, we have become servants of justice.

⁷For he who has died has been justified from sin.

¹Stand firm, and do not be willing to be again held by the yoke of servitude.

¹⁸in order to open their eyes, so that they may be converted from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive the remission of sins and a place among the saints, through the faith that is in me.’

³⁸Therefore, let it be known to you, noble brothers, that through him is announced to you remission from sins and from everything by which you were not able to be justified in the law of Moses. ³⁹In him, all who believe are justified.

¹⁷Now the Spirit is Lord. And wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

¹Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who are not walking according to the flesh. ²For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed me from the law of sin and death. ³For though this was impossible under the law, because it was weakened by the flesh, God sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and because of sin, in order to condemn sin in the flesh, ⁴so that the justification of the law might be fulfilled in us. For we are not walking according to the flesh, but according to the spirit.

⁸For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not of yourselves, for it is a gift of God. ⁹And this is not of works, so that no one may glory.

¹⁶And now, why do you delay? Rise up, and be baptized, and wash away your sins, by invoking his name.’
