³¹Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever else you may do, do everything for the glory of God.

²⁹And God said: “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant upon the earth, and all the trees that have in themselves the ability to sow their own kind, to be food for you,

³⁵Then Jesus said to them: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

³And everything that moves and lives will be food for you. Just as with the edible plants, I have delivered them all to you,

⁸Yet food does not commend us to God. For if we eat, we will not have more, and if we do not eat, we will not have less.

¹But accept those who are weak in faith, without disputing about ideas. ²For one person believes that he may eat all things, but if another is weak, let him eat plants. ³He who eats should not despise him who does not eat. And he who does not eat should not judge him who eats. For God has accepted him. ⁴Who are you to judge the servant of another? He stands or falls by his own Lord. But he shall stand. For God is able to make him stand. ⁵For one person discerns one age from the next. But another discerns unto every age. Let each one increase according to his own mind. ⁶He who understands the age, understands for the Lord. And he who eats, eats for the Lord; for he gives thanks to God. And he who does not eat, does not eat for the Lord, and he gives thanks to God.

⁴And in response he said, “It has been written: ‘Not by bread alone shall man live, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

⁴For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected which is received with thanksgiving; ⁵for it has been sanctified by the Word of God and by prayer.

⁷So then, go and eat your bread with rejoicing, and drink your wine with gladness. For your works are pleasing to God.

²⁷Do not work for food that perishes, but for that which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.”

¹⁴And again, calling the crowd to him, he said to them: “Listen to me, all of you, and understand. ¹⁵There is nothing from outside a man which, by entering into him, is able to defile him. But the things which proceed from a man, these are what pollute a man. ¹⁶Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.” ¹⁷And when he had entered into the house, away from the crowd, his disciples questioned him about the parable. ¹⁸And he said to them: “So, are you also without prudence? Do you not understand that everything entering to a man from outside is not able to pollute him? ¹⁹For it does not enter into his heart, but into the gut, and it exits into the sewer, purging all foods.”

¹⁷It is better to be called to vegetables with charity, than to a fatted calf with hatred.

²⁵And so I say to you, do not be anxious about your life, as to what you will eat, nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
