⁶Be anxious about nothing. But in all things, with prayer and supplication, with acts of thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God. ⁷And so shall the peace of God, which exceeds all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

³Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation. ⁴He consoles us in all our tribulation, so that we too may be able to console those who are in any kind of distress, through the exhortation by which we also are being exhorted by God. ⁵For just as the Passion of Christ abounds in us, so also, through Christ, does our consolation abound. ⁶So, if we are in tribulation, it is for your exhortation and salvation, or if we are in consolation, it is for your consolation, or if we are exhorted, it is for your exhortation and salvation, which results in the patient endurance of the same passion which we also endure. ⁷So may our hope for you be made firm, knowing that, just as you are participants in the suffering, so also shall you be participants in the consolation.

³The old error has gone away. You will serve peace: peace, for we have hoped in you. ⁴You have trusted in the Lord for all eternity, in the Lord God almighty forever.

¹All things have their time, and all things under heaven continue during their interval. ²A time to be born, and a time to die. A time to plant, and a time to pull up what was planted. ³A time to kill, and a time to heal. A time to tear down, and a time to build up. ⁴A time to weep, and a time to laugh. A time to mourn, and a time to dance. ⁵A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather. A time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces. ⁶A time to gain, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to cast away.

¹³In the manner of one whom a mother caresses, so will I console you. And you will be consoled in Jerusalem.

²²HETH. By the mercies of the Lord, we are not consumed. For his compassion has not passed away. ²³HETH. I know it at first light; great is your faithfulness. ²⁴HETH. “The Lord is my portion,” said my soul. Because of this, I will wait for him.

²⁹In response, Jesus said: “Amen I say to you, There is no one who has left behind house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or land, for my sake and for the Gospel, ³⁰who will not receive one hundred times as much, now in this time: houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and land, with persecutions, and in the future age eternal life.

⁵Let your behavior be without avarice; be content with what you are offered. For he himself has said, “I will not abandon you, and I will not neglect you.” ⁶So then, we may confidently say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not fear what man can do to me.”

¹A Psalm of David. The Lord directs me, and nothing will be lacking to me. ²He has settled me here, in a place of pasture. He has led me out to the water of refreshment. ³He has converted my soul. He has led me away on the paths of justice, for the sake of his name. ⁴For, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they have given me consolation. ⁵You have prepared a table in my sight, opposite those who trouble me. You have anointed my head with oil, and my cup, which inebriates me, how brilliant it is! ⁶And your mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and so may I dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days.
