1He who was from the beginning, whom we have heard, whom we have seen with our eyes, upon whom we have gazed, and whom our hands have certainly touched: He is the Word of Life. 2And that Life has been made manifest. And we have seen, and we testify, and we announce to you: the Eternal Life, who was with the Father, and who appeared to us. 3He whom we have seen and heard, we announce to you, so that you, too, may have fellowship with us, and so that our fellowship may be with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4And this we write to you, so that you may rejoice, and so that your joy may be full.
12The hearing ear and the seeing eye: the Lord has made them both.
11But our God is in heaven. All things whatsoever that he has willed, he has done. 12The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the works of the hands of men. 13They have mouths, and do not speak; they have eyes, and do not see. 14They have ears, and do not hear; they have noses, and do not smell. 15They have hands, and do not feel; they have feet, and do not walk. Neither will they cry out with their throat. 16Let those who make them become like them, along with all who trust in them.

21And the Lord smelled the sweet odor and said: “I will no longer curse the earth because of man. For the feelings and thoughts of the heart of man are prone to evil from his youth. Therefore, I will no longer pierce every living soul as I have done.
1And Jesus departed from the temple and went away. And his disciples approached him, so as to show him the buildings of the temple. 2But he said to them in response: “Do you see all these things? Amen I say to you, there shall not remain here stone upon stone, which is not torn down.” 3Then, when he was seated at the Mount of Olives, the disciples drew near to him privately, saying: “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of your advent and of the consummation of the age?” 4And answering, Jesus said to them: “Pay attention, lest someone lead you astray. 5For many will come in my name saying, ‘I am the Christ.’ And they will lead many astray. 6For you will hear of battles and rumors of battles. Take care not to be disturbed. For these things must be, but the end is not so soon.
15For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ for God, both with those who are being saved and with those who are perishing.
22The lamp of your body is your eye. If your eye is wholesome, your entire body will be filled with light. 23But if your eye has been corrupted, your entire body will be darkened. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great will that darkness be!
8Who has ever heard of such a thing? And who has seen anything like this? Will the earth give birth in one day? Or will a nation be born all at once? For Zion has been in labor, and she has given birth to her sons.
